The Plain Dealer, Scene, and Free Times all boosted the reputation of MoKo BoVo as an original take on roots music, sometimes combining spoken word with creative improvisation. Bruce Iglauer of Alligator Records said he loved our first album, although not traditional enough for his classic blues record label and described it as “Tom Waits meets Louis Armstrong.”
