Jack Mizenko, Vocals, Mandolin, Guitar / Artist, Teacher
Jack is a strong vocalist, guitar and mandolin player as well a former educator in special education within the Cleveland schools. Since 2002, he has co-hosted a weekly acoustic music night at a local coffeehouse. Jack is also a member of a local folk-rock band, the FlipSide. In 2007 he joined ROAM as a teaching artist. During the 2007-08 school year, Jack led residencies in four Cleveland schools on “American Regions,” “American Heroes,” and “Basic Rhythms.” He assisted in presenting professional development workshops to teachers (2007). Jack has also attended a number of workshops, most recently the ICARE Best Practices Workshop (May, 2008) and the ICARE Summer Institute (June, 2008). He is a current volunteer with A Cultural Exchange (writing curriculum) and Seeds of Literacy (tutoring adults pursuing GEDs). Jack has a B. A. in Mathematics, John Carroll University (1975), Ohio Teaching Certificates: Elementary (K-8) and Developmentally Handicapped (K-12) (1975); M. Ed. in Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders, Kent State University (1977).
