Kevin
T. Richards
Kevin is the founder
and Executive Director of Roots of American Music. In addition, he
is a vocalist and plays electric and acoustic guitar, fiddle, banjo
and mandolin. Averaging 200 performances annually, he has appeared
at the National Folk Festival and Merlefest and entertained audiences
across the US in concerts, in schools on radio and television for
over a quarter century.
Kevin’s mastery of American roots music has lead to collaboration
with the Western Reserve Historical Society and the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame and Museum. He created two of the Museum’s outreach
programs, “Blues in The Schools” and Roots to Rock”.
Kevin has shared stages with the likes of John Hammond, Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame inductee Jorma Kaukonen, Howard Armstrong and blues Hall
of Famer Robert Lockwood junior. He has released two compact discs,
The First String Band (1995) and One night at the Spider (1997), both
of which feature prewar acoustic blues and ragtime, as well as traditional
country music.
Kevin is also the Founder and Director of the Fairmount School of
Music where he has taught since 1988.
