Deborah
Van Kleef
Deborah
Van Kleef has performed, promoted, written and taught folk music for
over 20 years. She draws on a large repertoire of traditional and contemporary
folk songs, early recorded country music, and original compositions.
She has appeared throughout northeast Ohio, as well as in New York and
Washington, DC, at coffeehouses, concerts, festivals, schools, libraries,
special events and conferences. Deborah was featured on NPR's award-winning
documentary, "Woody Guthrie: Hard Travelin'," which aired
on over 160 public radio stations nationwide. Pete Seeger premiered
her song, “The Great Fast Food Strike” on May 1, 1998, at
the historic Carnegie Hall concert marking the 50th anniversary of Smithsonian
Folkways Recordings. Deborah offers school assembly and short-term residence
programs through Young Audiences of Greater Cleveland and Roots of American
Music. She teaches beginning guitar at the Fairmount School of Music
in and at Summer Ruffing It Camp in Cleveland Hts.
